Former undertaker and ex-police officer Luc Conrad comes back to Switzerland to attend a birthday party in a hotel. When the hotel manager dies under mysterious circumstances, he secretly begins to investigate whether it was a murder.

A detective leaves the force to take over the family business as an undertaker at the same time as he is being investigated for murder. His close encounters with corpses and his earlier police training lead him to see things some of his ex-colleagues miss and he investigates the crimes he encounters in an unofficial capacity often to the dismay of the official police.
Jasmin ( Meryl Valerie ) is crowned the new Miss Zurich because the real winner is decapitated in an unexpected way. Air traffic controller Johann Lenders has just taken over the night shift in the tower at Zurich Airport when he notices an irregularity on the radar screen: two planes on a collision course. His efforts to avert the impending collision fail. A Russian passenger plane and a German cargo plane collide, killing 71 people. Meanwhile, Yuri Balkayev waits at Barcelona airport for his wife and two children to arrive - in vain. His family are among the victims of the Überlingen accident. Unable to comprehend the news of his loss, he sets off in search of those responsible. Johann Lenders is also completely distraught, he can hardly believe the disaster. He feels compelled to apologize to the relatives of the victims - but Katharina Rohl, a lawyer at air traffic control, forbids him to do so on behalf of the company boss.
Film tells the story of how Switzerland came into being - albeit in a slightly different way to the historical circumstances we have known up to now: William Tell proves himself a national hero against his will in the midst of the comic chaos of court intrigues, mishaps and misguided love of country. Habsburg occupiers and Swabian tourists stand in the way of the Confederates' fight for independence, but a parodic all-round attack ensures that all patriots learn their history lesson - and in the process are relegated to their respective national borders.
