Jia You Wei, a middle-aged man who has accomplished nothing, is diagnosed with a brain tumor and has only ten days left to live. He sells his old house, rumored to be demolished and reunites with several others who used to live there. They decide to indulge themselves in the final ten days of their lives. In this way, the quintet who parted ways 22 years ago in the family compound gathered together once again, only to realize that each of them has faced their own hardships in life.
The film mainly focuses on events such as entering Beijing, peace talks, crossing the river, economic construction, preparing for the CPPCC, and convening the CPPCC. After the peaceful liberation of Peiping in 1949, Chairman Mao led the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to settle in Xiangshan from Xibaipo to "go to Beijing to take the test".
The story is about a delivery man Li An Quan struggling to live in Beijing meanwhile his daughter is ill and needs 20 million for surgical fees. Li works hard to earn money, but accidents occurre one after another.
The story revolves around Shang Jie, the overly critical head of a crime investigation team; Xia Ying, a forensic examiner who is completely engrossed with her profession; Li Xue Kai, a detective and a good tracker; Song Mi, an innocent and ditsy analyst and Ying Ming, a second-generation rich who works as a criminal psychologist. The five form an unlikely team as they are the rejects of the department, yet through teamwork and dedication, they succeed in solving the most unusual murder cases.
