Musashi is a 10 year old boy with big dreams. He wants to grow up to be an astronaut so he can fly through the stars and meet his hero Ultraman. His mother worries that Musashi daydreams too much, but his police officer father thinks a little bit of daydreaming never hurts anyone.
One summer day, the main character receives a letter from an unknown sender. The contents of the letter were to the effect that on this coming Saturday, we will dig up the time capsule that we buried during our fifth grade seaside school.
Set in the late 60s in a small seaside town, this coming of age drama centres on a young girl named Nagisa. She spends her summer holidays working in a local seaside bar, searching for her lost cat, dancing to rock’n’roll and discovering first love.
Brash, loudmouthed and opportunistic, Kikujiro is the unlikely companion for Masao who is determined to see the mother he has never met. The two begin a series of adventures which soon turns out to be a whimsical journey of laughter and tears with a wide array of surprises and unique characters along the way.
