Agáta, a sensitive and impractical childless widow, is placed in a retirement home not out of neglect or poverty but because her middle-aged relatives, overwhelmed by their own responsibilities, believe she will fare better among peers. Unprepared for life among strangers with quirky habits and opinions, she strives to adapt yet finds herself traumatized by the selfishness of a difficult roommate.
The biographical story of Pavel Emanuel Dobšinský - a television film about the life and knowledge of a man who managed to stay true to himself, his people and his ideas despite the times. The story begins at the end of the great storyteller's life, when through his own memories, captured by his hand and in book form, he returns to his childhood, the time he entered the Levoč grammar school, to 1840. In this film, author Peter Glocko, a trusted expert on Dobšinský's work and life, guides us through all the personal and historical vicissitudes of the hero's life, reveals the influences that marked his ability to squeeze into his stories the wisdom of knowledge and knowledge of the people from which he came, as well as the basic life principles that the reader - young or old - still draws from his tales.
A fairy tale about two princesses - sisters, one of whom wasbeautiful and superficial and the other less beautiful, but wise and saved the kingdom from famine. Where there was there was a kingdom in which lived two princesses. Pretty Margaret and wise Marietta. As they grew up, the differences between them deepened. Margareta was all finesse and longed for rich courtship all her days, while Marieta learned much from people, but also by observing nature. And so it came to pass that a handsome prince visited the kingdom, and both girls fell in love with him. At first he seemed to be in awe of Margaret's beauty, but in time his enchantment wore off and he began to take more notice of the spirited Margaret. But she put him to the test...
Magdalene has everything except one little thing: money. But the beautiful and wise daughter of a poor peasant knows that one day, the day will surely come when everything will turn around for the better. It sounds unbelievable at first, but her father's current troubles may be Magdalene's redemption. For when the young judge rules against him, it is Magdalene who writes an appeal against the decision. And the judge can't wait to meet the author of such a perfectly worded objection. When she appears at his door, the judge doesn't hesitate for a second to embarrass her by offering her the opportunity to join his service. At this point, however, the question stands quite differently...
The story tells about a girl who was poor, but on the other hand so good and hardworking that she received a special gift from fate. A spinning wheel on which she could spin golden threads. And there was a count who liked her, but he liked the gold she brought with her to his house even better. And because he was greedy and wanted more and more gold, he decided that he too would weave the threads, even if his fingers were to fall off. And so he wove and wove, forgetting all that was good and beautiful around him. The girl, his friends, the whole world. But until then, the golden threads are woven, until the yarn breaks and fate says enough...
The hero of the tale, based on Samuel Czambel's story, is banished from his home because of laziness - let him learn something in the world. Who knows how he would have turned out if he hadn't accidentally acquired four miraculous things that can make one full, overpower the enemy and make one invisible. Thanks to them, he falls into the king's favour and is about to marry a princess. But she robs him of all the miraculous things and turns him into a laughing stock. But because justice always prevails in a fairy tale, our hero finds a way to punish the princess. The old hermit's advice, strange pears and even stranger apples will help him...
