A group of colleagues in a government department go on vacation on one of the Red Sea beaches, during which a female employee meets Ahmed, the young man she loves, but her father refuses their marriage, so he goes to work in a lighthouse, after which their love renews again with the hope of marriage.
When her mother dies, the responsibility of keeping the family together falls on Sawsan, who tries to reunite her family after her father neglects his children in favor of chasing after the widowed Fatma, and her brother sets his eyes on a married woman.
As his son goes missing, Sheikh Abdel Fattah does not stop looking for him. The Sheikh is a wealthy man who tries to find his son at any cost. His brother Ismail covets his wealth so when the father finds his lost son, he keeps it a secret out of fear that Ismail will get rid of him.
On the night of the wedding of Mohamed (Shukry Sarhan) with Adela (Souad Hosny), a letter arrives to Mohamed benefits that he was promoted and so moved to work in the Jabal "Ataka", but her mother, Aziza (Mary Munib) opposed her daughter from going with her husband to his place of work ,so Mohamed travels alone, Adila challenged her mother and follow her husband.
Mother Khadija (Amina Rizk) works as a maid to raise her daughter Nemat (Shadia). The school principal (Nelly Mazloum) sympathizes with her and gives her a room in her garden to live in with her daughter. Nemat is raised with Mona (Amal Farid), the daughter of the principal. She loves Nemat, the wealthy young man Hassan (Hassan Youssef), but his family rejects their marriage. Nemat is ashamed of her mother's work and runs away from home. Nemat works in several jobs but is subjected to many harassment, and at the same time she continues her relationship with Hassan despite all the pressures around her.
A widowed man lives with his four daughters, but he always preventing them from mixing or working, and when the father goes out on pension, he decides to invest his reward in a company that he later discovers has seized his money, so he falls down the stairs and enters the hospital injured, and the daughters are forced to go down to work.
Set in the suburbs of Cairo in the late 1930s, the story follows a middle-class Egyptian family grappling with the hardships of life after the death of their father, their sole breadwinner. The mother and her four children—three brothers and their sister, Nefisah—struggle to avoid slipping into poverty. They all go in different directions which aren't exactly good.
The young singer Sherif finds a golden chain in front of the opera house, and returns it to its owner Amany and refuses to take an reward. Impressed by his honesty, Amany asks him to manage her farm, which irritates her relative Ramsey to escalate events.
In the port of Alexandria, Captain Gad works on one of the mechanical boats. Gad orchestrates a ship accident that is taken as an act of God. Abu Ahmed is appointed foreman instead of Gad, who was waiting for the job. Abu Ahmed feels happy and conveys the good news to his wife, Amina, who wants a child. After a long wait, Jad decides to take revenge.
