His routine becomes even more limited when his misanthropic brother dies, reducing Thomas' human contact to practically nil. As with many seniors, he's basically invisible to passersby, though Thomas in particular avoids engaging with those around him. When he runs into his estranged daughter Marie, he tries to create a bridge.

The nursing home elderly watch on TV as Uuno tells the show's host his life story.

They divert parking fines to the wrong account, one belonging to Inspector Koistinen, arrange a pre-arranged lottery line by bribing the authorities, and break into a political party's secret office to blow up the safe. Inspector Koistinen is in a tight spot. To make matters worse, he is assigned a new partner, Eevariita, who soon figures out that the same gang is behind all the scams.
