The musical MUR. Ty [Romantyka] movie is Ukraine’s original historical musical, offering a fresh perspective on the writers of the past century — not as distant figures from textbooks, but as real, living people. The story unfolds in the legendary Slovo House in Kharkiv, where, in the early 20th century, the Soviet regime brutally persecuted and executed hundreds of Ukrainian cultural elites.

The traveler who never leaves his cabinet – that’s what his contemporaries used to call Jules Verne. He was a person with an extraordinary lust for life whose fantasy had no limits, he literally taught us how to dream. Which of us did not aspire of circling the world with Phileas Fogg and Jean Passepartout? Who hasn’t dreamt of roaming the sea with captain Nemo on his quest for vengeance? This film is yet another piece from the series “Great Dreamers” which already includes some of the most well-known visionaries such as Nicola Tesla (“Free Energy of Tesla”) and Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (“Tsiolkovsky’s Worlds of Miracle”). By having utilized advanced CGI technologies we were able to recreate the life of outstanding persons, pioneers and path breakers in science and research.
On June 27, 1942, a caravan of ships, codenamed PQ-17, left Reykjavik for Arkhangelsk. The route of the ships with cargo for Russia lay across the North Atlantic, where they were awaited by chilling winds, stormy seas and deadly attacks by German submarines and bombers.
When Jules Verne was a child he used to dream of distant countries and continents, he tried to imagine what it was like there in those faraway places which are yet for him to be discovered. He didn't like studying at the Sorbonne much, he wasn't into the laws and norms which were forced upon him. Instead he preferred to study star maps and dream about crossing the cosmic abyss. Alexander Dumas was his ticket to the world of literature. But success only came after he had started writing about things he dreamed of the most -adventures. And those were not just works of fiction: many of Verne's ideas have been hailed as prophetic. Whoever said our dreams are not material?
