Juna Mukhraneli will be assigned to work at a quarry after graduating from the institute. However, upon arrival, she will be offered the position of temporary well foreman instead of a geologist.
The ship which supplies Anton Denikin with money, weapons and secret documents gets to the attention of different party units in a Black Sea resort. The small Bolshevik armed unit fights there against the British authority. Its aim is to subvert the supply of weapons to the White Army. The Bolshevik armed unit penetrates the ship, disarms the captain, takes away the money and booby-traps the ship. In order to baffle pursuit the group decides to escape through the swamps. One member of the group turns out to be a traitor. He steals the money. The rest of the group drowns in the swamp.
The film comprises three cinematic novellas: (1) “And They Arrived at the Peasant’s Hut… or the Adventures of Writer Senya in Search of the Hidden Word,” in which writer Senya draws inspiration for his rural novels from his housekeeper Yermolayevna’s tales; (2) “The Song, or How the Great Louarsab Organized a Choir,” where a city visitor attempts to form a choir of centenarian elders in a Georgian mountain village; (3) “What Is Our Life?! or What Is Our Life?!”—during a musical reenactment of pre-Revolutionary France, a drunken actor’s tardiness forces King Louis XIV (also the theater committee chairman) and the cast to improvise the play’s ending.
The trial of political prisoners is taking place in the Kutaisi prison. They face hanging or life imprisonment. In order to release them from prison, a party figure, nicknamed "Chagara" and a revolutionary woman, "Vardo", aka Nato Nakashidze-Volfisa, come to the city. She rents a house near the prison, supposedly to open a knitting workshop. Will they be able to escape?
Officer Zhilin, a Caucasus officer, receives a letter from his mother and returns home. He and another Russian officer are attacked by mountaineers, and Zhilin is captured without ransom money.
The story is based on Konstantine Gamsakhurdia's novel and depicts the social and political changes taking place in Soviet Georgia in the 1930s through the line of the main characters: Tarash Emkhvari and Arzakan Zvambaya.
The film tells the life of a Georgian woman from 1920s to the present day. Love, marriage, Russian annexation and collectivization, world war, loss of children - Sidonia went through many sorrows and troubles on her way of life, but she always maintained spiritual courage and hope for the future.
