Late 1800s. The arrival of the railroad to an isolated town brings the long-awaited progress, but also Oleguer, a dark loan shark with shady dealings. Adrià is a boy who lives from village to village with his older brother and his older brother's girlfriend. He is mute, can't stand enclosed spaces, and finds it hard to keep his attention when spoken to. Adrià has a secret: on full moon nights, he can't sleep and wanders the streets.
As a severe drought punishes the vast expanses of rice fields in eastern Spain, the natural region of Laguna Blanca is named a Nature Preserve. A prestigious biologist, Ricardo, arrives in San Pedro to protect it. His family, however, is going through tough times but Ricardo is convinced that a change in their lives will help them move on. And it’s also an opportunity to get back to his roots, to his origins, to where he grew up as a boy and to reclaim this spot that had been buried in his fondest memories. Ricardo’s mission is to hinder the abusive and illegal use that everyone makes of the lagoon. But pressure and threats from the locals just keep getting worse. They consider Ricardo a traitor because all they are trying to do is defend their existence and their livelihood. Ricardo eventually comes to the realization that his life and that of his family are in danger.
Laura and Carlos love each other as if every day was the last, and perhaps that first love intensity is what will tear them apart a year later.
'L'Alqueria Blanca’ ('The White Village') proposes a journey through time, up to the 1960s, which reflects the life of an inland village, in the Alcoià county. The atmosphere is eminently rural and is marked by the great differences between the two most representative families of the place, the Falcó and the Pedreguer, who star in a series of stories with love above the class difference, envy, jealousy and scandal. It all comes down to some unstoppable advances in society.
The life of Fabian, an attractive and famous magistrate, is cut short by some strange circumstances. Since then a series of incidents follow. His apparently happy and successful life turns out to be a spiral of deceptions and appearances. All the people who are around him during his last years, take part, in one way or another, to destroy him. They are the important pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that will show the feelings, weaknesses, frustrations and the real personality, not only of the magistrate, but also of all the characters around him who, while trying to search their hapiness, they only found lies and decptions. Lies that will be revealed as the story goes on.
