After suffering a family tragedy, Carmen leaves Spain and emigrates to Paris, where she will make new friends among some of the most peculiar characters who inhabit the bohemian neighborhoods of the city. (Partially lost film.)
Since childhood, Luisa and Miguel have always been good friends; but several years later, as adults, when Spain faces the abyss of the Civil War (1936-1939), they support ideologically opposed camps.
On the hacienda of El Soto lives Doña Raimunda and her daughter Acacia as well.
