Living only with her elderly father, Krystyna runs the household and works as a modest clerk. However, her fate takes a turn. The girl gets a job at a company, and one of the clients, Jan Merlecki, wins her heart. Things quickly become complicated, though. An anonymous phone call to her beloved's parents, followed by their intervention to prevent the young couple from marrying, prompts Krystyna to make a dramatic decision.
Helenka Roliczówna is the daughter of a wealthy cosmetics manufacturer and a boarder at the Institute for Girls' Further Education. There she meets Stefan Frankiewicz, who has decided to visit his uncle, a music teacher at the school. The young people quickly take a liking to each other.

The director of the Warsaw operetta has problems with putting together a team. He cares very much about acquiring the star of the stage - Jadwiga Janowska. However, she is currently in Paris with her husband, diplomat Henryk de Fontana. It turns out that Ambassador Rossi falls in love with her. Jadwiga goes to Warsaw, where in her apartment her friend Apolonia trains a young adept Wanda to play on stage.

Both have the name Jadzia, besides the name they are also connected by a tennis racket. Jędruszewska is a champion of tennis courts, Maliczówna is an extremely charismatic owner of a sports store. Meanwhile, there is a fierce battle between two competing Warsaw companies selling sports equipment. The convergence of names and misunderstandings cause that the representative of the rival sports shop Jan Oksza confuses Jada. He tries to get the tennis champion to play their company's racket, but Jan takes Maliczówna for the champion. In the meantime, he acts as a sculptor, his friend. Among the gags and numerous misunderstandings between Jadzia Maliczówna and Jan Oksza germinate the feeling that eventually connects the two feuding companies.
During World War I in 1916, Austrian soldier Dodek Wędzonka is mistaken for a Russian lieutenant and freed by a Russian patrol, only to be quartered at the seized Majewo estate - home of his own superior, Lieutenant Majewski.
