Throughout his life, the film's protagonist has always tried to be active, but something always got in his way, either through an absurd coincidence, as a result of his own lack of ability, or due to the unpredictable nature of certain events in our recent history.

Told as a film within the film, the story concerns an aging actress. Ewa is a flamboyant, pushy actress whose career and love life have come to a dead end. She lives in a faceless housing development. She is totally engrossed in herself and dreams of making a comeback as a singer. But her overbearing personality time after time sets her into conflict with those she tries to work with in the theater and her bedroom.
Jurek, a medical student and notorious womanizer, spends the night with Anka, a carefree and spirited girl who does not want to continue the relationship. The couple meets again after a few months. Jurek is forced to look for a place to live. He finds an offer for a room for a medical student in exchange for caring for a sick person. Together with the girl, Monika, they go to the address provided. It turns out that the sick person is Anka. She had an accident while horseback riding and is now in a wheelchair. After some hesitation, she agrees to let Jurek take care of her.
Kazimierz Zaliwski was born into an intellectual family, he graduated from high school, and knows two foreign languages. The foreman, in love with his daughter, decides not to continue his studies. He wants to take a job as a locksmith in a factory.
The action takes place in Warsaw in the second half of the 19th century. The main character is the head of the girls' school - Mrs. Emma Latter. Ms Latter is struggling with the financial problems of her institution, because the parents of the students are still in arrears with payments. A holiday camp in Masuria is running a program called "If We Find Each Other." Its aim is to conduct a pedagogical experiment in which children from orphanages choose their own adoptive parents. Some of the children are passive, while others try to "study" the adults in their own way. Maciek, a young psychologist, notices Kasia, a girl on a gluten-free diet, whose illness has long prevented her from finding parents. Basia, Maciek's wife, accepts his choice. When Kasia learns from her friends that she will return to the orphanage after the holidays, she runs away from the center. Basia notices her and convinces the girl to return. After Basia and Maciek visit Professor Kowalewska, Kasia realizes that she finally has parents.
