Ex-army soldier Harald Westphal moves into a larger apartment in Berlin-Neukölln with his second wife, their child, his two younger daughters from his first marriage, his son-in-law and his granddaughter. Problems soon arise with the multicultural neighborhood.

Accustomed to his own style of command, he finds it difficult to accept his new role as a househusband and father of three daughters and to empathize with the girls' emotional world. The children initially do everything they can to get rid of their father, who in turn doesn't like the fact that his eldest is having a fling with the class crush Sascha.
